Chris Christie's office says the New Jersey Gov. had "absolutely no prior knowledge of the lane closures before they happened." The latest insistence that Christie was clueless to the closures comes in response to claims from David Wildstein, a former Port Authority official and Christie's high school friend, who says the Governor knew about the George Washington Bridge closings when they happened. In a written statement released by Wildstein’s lawyer, he says that it was “the Christie administration’s order” to close the lanes and that “evidence exists as well tying Mr. Christie to having knowledge of the lane closures, during the period when the lanes were closed contrary to what the governor stated publicly in a two-hour press conference,” earlier this month.
