The United Nations peace envoy left Crimea on Wednesday after being threatened by a group of armed pro-Russia militiamen. Robert Serry was deployed to Simferopol, the capital, the day before to "take stock and evaluate the situation there," but was blocked in his car and ended up agreeing to go to the airport. Ukraine's Foreign Ministry initially reported that he was kidnapped, but that proved untrue.
