Providers have been crying out that Medicare is squeezing their livelihood, but apparently that isn’t the case for everyone. Data was released after a federal judge ruled that payments from Medicare to providers could be published for the first time. And no wonder the American Medical Association tried to block the release: The data shows that 100 doctors received $610 million between them. Of $77 billion paid to doctors in 2012, one Florida ophthalmologist made $21 million, while dozens made more than $4 million, and $15 billion went to just 2 percent of doctors.
