Daniel Yealu, 29, the suspect accused of shooting at two officers and hitting one seven times, turns out to have been rejected after applying to become a Los Angeles police officer. According to the LAPD, Yealu used a Glock pistol during the shooting, but also had a “heavily modified” AK-47 in a car parked outside, as well as numerous other high-powered weapons and hundreds of rounds of ammunition in his home. The suspect’s father said Yealu had a troubled youth and was involved in gangs, but was trying to turn his life around.
