Notoriously difficult actress Katherine Heigl is suing Duane Reade for $6 million, accusing the drug-store chain of using her name and photo in promotional material without her agreement. The Walgreens subsidiary tweeted on March 18 a photo of her from gossip blog Just Jared with the line, "Love a quick #DuaneReade run? Even @KatieHeigl can’t resist shopping #NYC's favorite drugstore." It was also used on the company's Facebook page, which the actress alleges implies "falsely that plaintiff endorses defendant" and "improperly exploited plaintiff's name and likeness, as a celebrity, for defendant's commercial advertising." Perhaps a bit sensitive about her reputation, Heigl in her lawsuit also asserts that she is "a highly successful television and motion picture actress, producer, and celebrity" who "continues to be in high demand in the entertainment industry."
