After receiving an internal military document that was accidentally emailed, The Washington Post is reporting Wednesday that the Navy is investigating the Blue Angels for being an environment full of hazing, sexual harassment, and discrimination. The Blue Angels are the Navy’s acrobatic fighter squadron, and the military branch announced last Friday that its commander, Capt. Gregory McWherter, was being relieved of duty for alleged misconduct, but did not give specifics. In the internal document, a member of the squadron filed a complaint that alleged McWherter created a hostile work environment with sexual speech, pornography, jokes about sexuality, and tolerating sexual harassment. The Blue Angels are famous for performing at air shows, and McWherter was a graduate of the Navy’s famous “Top Gun” fighter-pilot school.
