The spring thaw is here! The U.S. economy added 288,000 jobs in April, and the unemployment rate fell to 6.3 percent. The jobless rate is now the lowest it's been since the financial crash in September 2008. Analysts expected job gains of 220,000 at most, believing the economy would shake off a winter freeze. The number of unemployed people dropped by 733,000 to 9.8 million--but 806,000 also quit looking. February and March's gains were revised up 36,000 in total.
