The hacker world's most hated figure was released from a Manhattan courtroom on Tuesday with little more than a slap on the wrist. Hector Xavier Monsegur, who went by "Sabu," was sentenced to time spent—the seven months already spent in prison—and a year's supervised release thanks to his "extraordinary cooperation" with the FBI, the judge said. Monsegur, once a leading figure in Anonymous and LulzSec, participated on more than 250 computer attacks totaling $50 million in damages, but spent the past three years as a federal informant. He was a key participant in nabbing Jeremy Hammond, the FBI's number one most wanted cybercriminal.
