    Iran Hackers Exploiting Social Media

    Conservative lawmakers in Iran may frown upon social-media networks, but the country’s hackers don’t. According to a new report from cybersecurity firm iSight Partners, hackers in Iran have been engaged in a three-year plan to use social networks to start friendships with U.S. lawmakers, defense contractors, and at least one four-star general, and then use that friendship to steal data. According to iSight, the hacking group, which has yet to be tied to Iran’s government, created a fake news organization and journalists. It then tried to interact on Facebook and other social networks with more than 2,000 military, government, and diplomatic officials.
