As the scandal over veterans’ care grows to include more hospitals, the House has approved legislation that will transfer treatment to local doctors if the wait at Veterans Affairs facilities is too long. The 421-to-0 vote means the VA would pay for treatment outside its own hospitals if the Senate approves the measure. Monday, it was revealed that 57,000 patients spent three months or more waiting for their first appointments.
