As the worst Ebola outbreak in memory rips through Africa, an increasing number of health-care workers who are treating the vulnerable patients have been struck by the virus. Two Americans have been diagnosed with the virus: Kent Brantley, a doctor from Fort Worth, Texas, and Nancy Writebol, an aid worker from Charlotte, North Carolina. It has also been announced that one of the foremost Ebola experts in Liberia has died. Thus far, 670 people have died from the hemorrhagic virus as it spreads across the continent. According to the World Health Organization, Ebola can have a fatality rate of up to 90 percent. Ken Isaacs of Samaritan’s Purse, the charity that Brantley is affiliated with, said ominously “I think the worst is yet to come. I hope I’m wrong.”
