North and South Korea fired at each other across their borders Sunday morning. North Korea soldiers approached the border, despite South Korea's warning shots. The two sides then exchanged gunfire for about ten minutes, but there were “ no casualties or property damage,” according to the South Korea Defense Minister. North and South Korea have engaged a series of similar military skirmishes over the past few weeks. Prior to this incident, the two Koreas had exchanged gunfire twice this month alone. Once was over a disputed sea border, and the other was over South Korean activists sending anti-Pyongyang leaflets into North Korea via balloon. North and South Korea held high-level military talks on Wednesday, but without any significant progress towards reconciliation. They are expected to hold talks again later this week.
