U.S. Cardinal Raymond Burke, who supported campaigns to deny Communion to Catholic politicians who support legalized abortion, has been demoted by Pope Francis again. Burke was head of the Holy See’s supreme court; last year, he was taken off the Vatican’s powerful Congregation for Bishops, which dealt with the appointment of bishops worldwide. Burke’s new post is the ceremonial post of Patron of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, a charity.
