As soon as today, Sony Pictures will name North Korea as the source of a hacking attack that compromised everything from the studio’s pre-release movies to employees’ Social Security numbers. The same people who hacked Sony also stole salary information on 30,000 employees at Deloitte, one of the world's largest accounting firms. (A Sony employee who used to work at Deloitte had the file.) Sony and security firm Mandiant are working on the investigation together. North Korea was suspected to be behind the attack thanks to its outrage over forthcoming Sony film The Interview, which mocks Kim Jong-Un. However, The Hollywood Reporter said Wednesday that the studio believed the attack was an inside job—though “It is possible that North Korean-sponsored hackers were working with someone on the inside.”
