After getting heat for its surge pricing, Uber announced it would cap the prices on rides while a major storm is set to hit New York City. "Due to the State of Emergency declared in New York City, prices will not exceed 2.8x the normal fare," Uber announced in an email. "Anytime a disaster or state of emergency strikes, dynamic pricing is capped and all Uber proceeds will be donated to the American Red Cross to support relief efforts." This is in accordance with an agreement the company made with New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman.
