Greece’s parliament is expected to support Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras’ reform proposals in a snap vote Friday, a spokesman for the ruling Syriza party told reporters. Tsipras is asking for parliamentary backing to negotiate a list of “prior actions,” or measures his government would take to persuade creditors in a bailout deal. Party spokesman Nikos Filis told reporters there would “certainly” be a deal today. Greece submitted a detailed written proposal Thursday requesting a €53.5 billion loan from the eurozone’s bailout fund, the European Stability Mechanism.
