Human-rights activists are criticizing President Obama for calling the Ethiopian government “democratically elected” twice during his visit to the country. Just two months earlier, the prime minister was voted in with 100 percent of the vote, and the ruling party and its allies took control of every seat in the parliament in an election declared a sham by watchdogs. “It has been relatively recently in which the constitution that was formed, and elections put forward a democratically elected government,” Obama said, but added that “there is still more work to do, and I think the prime minister is the first to acknowledge that there is more work to do.”
