Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush met with Black Lives Matter advocates Wednesday ahead of a town-hall event in Las Vegas, according to a statement from his campaign. The Republican presidential candidate discussed his commitment to criminal-justice reform, his campaign said. Bush “listened to the group and they discussed barriers to upward mobility in this country, and ways to overcome them as a community by starting to get a few things right in government,” the statement said. Bush was reportedly asked about racial inequality at a North Las Vegas event Wednesday evening, before audience members broke out into a “Black Lives Matter” chant at the end of the gathering.
