Fordham University announced that it is rescinding an honorary doctor in fine arts degree given to Bill Cosby in an email sent to students Monday. "The University has taken this extraordinary step in light of Mr. Cosby’s now-public court depositions that confirm many of the allegations made against him by numerous women," an email from the office of the president said, adding that trustees unanimously voted to take away the 2001 honor. "As a Jesuit university, Fordham could no longer stand behind the degree it had bestowed upon Mr. Cosby, hence this unprecedented action." The university had never before rescinded an honorary degree.
