While visiting a learning center serving poor children in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, President Obama said the children, some of which were refugees, “represent the opposite of terror, the opposite of the type of despicable violence we saw in Mali and Paris.” The refugee children at the school were Rohingya, ethnic Muslims who have fled persecution by Buddhists in Myanmar. The president declared “as long as I’m president we are going to keep stepping up.”
