Monks at St. John’s Abbey in Collegeville, Minnesota, had sex with hundreds of people, including minors, according to files released by the monastery as part of a legal settlement. One monk reported hundreds of sexual encounters, including with students at a prep school. The files “show that the abbey did not try to cover up allegations and did a reasonable job of managing the monk and the problem,” a lawyer for the institution said. An attorney for victims alleges that the abbey allowed accused offenders to continue to work with children.
