Donald Trump said Thursday he’ll participate in the next Republican debate in Las Vegas—and he’ll do it for free. “When you’re leading in the polls, I think it’s too big of a risk to not do the debate,” Trump told The Washington Post at Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Virginia. “I don’t think I have the kind of leverage I’d like to have in a deal and I don’t want to take the chance of hurting my campaign. So I’ll do the debate.” The real estate mogul had earlier this week proposed the idea to boycott the debate if CNN didn’t pay him $5 million, of which he promised to donate to veterans. Also on Thursday, CNN President Jeff Zucker responded to Trump’s proposal, saying, “We do not pay candidates to appear at debates.”
