Black Lives Matter Activist Shoots Self at Statehouse

A 23-year-old Black Lives Matter activist reportedly shot himself outside the front door of the Ohio Statehouse on Monday night. MarShawn M. McCarrel II was pronounced dead at the scene, said State Highway Patrol officials. “We don’t have any evidence to know the reason why he did it,” a police spokesman said. But earlier in the day, McCarrel apparently posted on Facebook: “My demons won today. I’m sorry.” He also tweeted, “Let the record show that I pissed on the state house before I left” and “If we don’t have to live through hell just to get to heaven. I’ma stay right here with you.”
