Nyquist won the 2016 Kentucky Derby on Saturday afternoon by 1¼ lengths, improving his unbeaten record to 8-0. The bay colt ran the track in 2:01.31, beating out a second-place Exaggerator. Nyquist's victory marks the second Derby win for the team of jockey Mario Gutierrez, trainer Doug O'Neill, and owner J. Paul Reddam, who won the 2012 Derby and Preakness with I'll Have Another before the horse was scratched just before possibly clinching the Triple Crown at that year's Belmont.
