Senator Tim Kaine, Hillary Clinton’s vice presidential pick, lashed out at Donald Trump during a Wednesday night speech at the Democratic National Convention. Kaine called on Trump to release his tax returns, riffing on Trump’s oft-repeated plea of “believe me.”
“He just says ‘believe me.’ Here’s the question: do you really believe him?” Kaine said of Trump. “Does anybody in this massive auditorium believe that Donald Trump’s been paying his fair share of taxes?
Kaine encouraged Republicans and independents to support Hillary. “Any party that would nominate Donald Trump for president has moved too far away from the party of Lincoln.” Of his running mate, he told the audience, “Hillary Clinton and I are companeros de alma. We share this basic belief: it’s simple—do all the good you can and serve one another.”
