Ellen DeGeneres said on Tuesday that Kim Burrell, the gospel singer who came under fire this week for a homophobic sermon, is no longer scheduled to appear on her daytime talk show. Burrell was set to perform the song “I See a Victory” from the Hidden Figures soundtrack with Pharrell Williams on Thursday. DeGeneres tweeted the news on Tuesday after she received an outcry and a petition from viewers who were upset about Burrell's sermon, in which she called homosexuality “perverted” and an “embarrassment.” The YouTube video was posted on Dec. 30 and showed Burrell speaking at the Love & Liberty Fellowship Church in Houston. After the footage surfaced, Burrell has since refused to apologize.
