Sean Spicer: ‘I’ve Let the President Down’

Sean Spicer on Wednesday delivered yet another full-throated apology for his press conference gaffe in which he compared Hitler to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and seemingly (and wrongly) suggested the Nazi dictator didn’t use poison gas on his own people. Speaking at a Newseum event with Greta Van Susteren, Spicer said, “I made a mistake. There’s no other way to say it. I got into a topic that I shouldn’t have, and I screwed up.” He added, “On a professional level it’s disappointing because I think I’ve let the president down, and so on both a personal level and professional level that would definitely go down as not a very good day in my history.”
