The National Security Agency will cease collecting Americans’ emails and texts to and from people overseas and that mention a foreign target of surveillance, according to a New York Times report on Friday. This particular method of warrantless data collection has come under fire by privacy advocates for the seemingly arbitrary nature by which the agency decides which communications to intercept; however, NSA officials have long maintained that such surveillance is legal.
