Former Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour was arrested earlier this month after a loaded handgun was found inside his carry-on bag as he went through airport security in Jackson. Barbour told the Associated Press that he will pay a fine, adding that he “forgot” the handgun was in his bag. “This was absent mindedness and nobody’s fault but mine,” he said. The weapon was a .38 caliber revolver, which was loaded with five bullets, according to a Transportation Security Administration spokeswoman. Barbour is also the former chairman of the Republican National Committee.
