See more stars who wear outfits again.08.09.11 6:16 AM ETGetty Images (3) ; Retna (1)Kate Middleton’s everywoman persona was augmented this weekend when she wore two dresses to Zara Phillips’ wedding reception and ceremony that she’s already worn before, as The Daily Mail was the first to notice. But the Duchess of Cambridge is certainly not the first style maven to commit what some deem a high-fashion faux pas. From Posh to Barbara Walters to Anna Wintour, see stars who’ve donned outfits more than once. Getty Images (3) ; Retna (1)The Duchess of CambridgeShe may be the next emerging style icon, but Kate Middleton isn’t above recycling old looks, as The Daily Mail pointed out. For the royal nuptials of her husband’s cousin Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall, the Duchess of Cambridge wore a cream brocade coat that she previously wore to watch Camilla Parker Bowles’ daughter, Laura, walk down the aisle in 2006. The green Diane von Furstenberg frock that Kate wore to Phillips and Tindall’s pre-wedding party was also making its second appearance—she wore it at a private reception held at the British consul-general's residence in L.A. earlier this summer. Michelle Obama wore a blue Tracy Reese sundress while on her first solo trip to Mexico in April 2010 and again at the Congressional Picnic on the White House’s South Lawn the following June. “For me fashion is fun, and it’s supposed to help you feel good about yourself,” she once told Vogue. “I think that’s what all women should focus on: what makes them happy and feel comfortable and beautiful. I wear what I love.” And if she loves it a lot, she wears it again. Pacific Coast NewsVictoria BeckhamWhen your nickname is Posh, you have a lot to live up to. And new mom Victoria Beckham always dresses to impress. But she turned heads for different reasons while shopping in L.A. in a red-hot Louis Vuitton skirt in April 2007—Posh had previously worn the look, in New York in April 2006. The former Spice Girl did update her 'do, opting for a short blonde cropped look instead of longer brown tresses; but for a fashion designer and style icon, the bold repeat was certainly surprising. Getty Images ; AP PhotoAnna WintourShe’s the queen bee of the fashion world, but Anna Wintour committed what many deem a fashion faux pas when she wore a Chanel dress and matching jacket to a White House state dinner in January. Some thought the outfit was too casual for an event dominated by floor-length gowns, but that wasn’t the only issue—the Vogue editor in chief had just worn the Chanel design to the Oscars of fashion, the CDFA Awards, in December 2010. Maybe her point was that recycling is the new black. Getty ImagesEva MendesShortly after a stunning Eva Mendes stepped out with her costar Keira Knightley at the premiere of Last Night at the International Rome Film Festival in October 2010, they were escorted off the red carpet when 800 protesters stormed the scene. That may explain why Mendes opted to slip into the peach-fringed Atelier Versace gown one more time the following evening for the premiere of Little White Lies. Finally, the dress got its time in the spotlight. Getty ImagesCherAs outrageous as her stage costumes are, Cher seems to finds her concert-wear perfect for Hollywood parties, too. The singing legend wore a sparkly, chain- and hardware-detailed vest while performing at the American Music Awards in January 2002. Then, nearly eight years later, she went with the vest again for the Directors Guild of America Awards in January 2010. Aside from the different hair color, it’s hard to notice any changes in the gracefully aging star. Getty ImagesLady Gaga Considering that Lady Gaga has made a name for herself by wearing shocking outfits, it was no surprise to see her in this sheer Thierry Mugler leopard catsuit in March 2011. What was more unnevering, however, was that the always-original singer and style icon wore it again after a performance at Annabel’s, a members-only London club, a few months later. But for those paying close attention, for Gaga’s second go at the outfit she kicked things up a notch, cutting the one-piece in two. Pacific Coast News ; Getty ImagesPippa MiddletonMaybe it’s hereditary. Kate Middleton’s younger, show-stealing sister has been the object of paparazzi affection since the royal wedding, so a repetitive outfit could not sneak by. Among Pippa’s many fashionable summer looks was this Zara color-blocked white, green, and navy dress, which she’s worn not once but twice. The Princess of Asturias wore the suit with a black top at the Foreign Ambassadors Reception in January 2010 and again at the New Year Pascua Military ceremony, almost exactly a year later. AP Photo ; Getty ImagesBarbara WaltersIconic broadcast journalist Barbara Walters tends to keep it simple when it comes to her style, but did she put in too little effort one week in May 2009? The busy host of The View had places to go and people to see, but maybe not enough dresses to wear. Walters wore this belted black gown at Time's 100 Most Influential People gala and then, four days later, showed up in it again at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. Let's hope the president wasn’t invited to Time’s event to notice.
