Getting Into It

Heidi Klum’s 13 Best Halloween Costumes Through the Years (PHOTOS)

Every year, Heidi Klum hosts a lavish annual Halloween costume party.  Every year, she unveils a personal Halloween costume more outrageous than the last. One year she was an alien, another she was a human body without skin. Last week, she announced her Halloween costume for this year: an elaborate Cleopatra. Klum has announced that her festivities are canceled this year due to Hurricane Sandy—but here’s a look back at her last 13 years of Halloween costumes.

At her first-ever Halloween bash, the Project Runway host took S&M to a new level with a shiny black-leather getup, complete with ebony wig and spiked collar.

Transitioning from hardcore to equestrian, Klum took on Lady Godiva, rocking a floor-length blonde wig and making her entrance via horseback.

While we can’t verify that those aren’t Heidi’s genuine … assets, we think she might have gotten a little bit of padded help to achieve this look as curvy cartoon character Betty Boop.

Goldfinger? Alien? Grecian God? While we can’t pinpoint what exactly Klum is trying to embody with this look, her chromed teeth and wiry curls are enough to distract us from her golden cleavage—almost.

Klum looks bewitching in this ensemble with a skeleton hanging from her shoulders. Made complete with a mass of red hair, a broom, and scarlet knee socks, Klum is one red-hot witch.

It’s doubtful (well, impossible) Klum drew her inspiration for her 2005 look from the yet-to-be-released Twilight series, as her sexy vamp interpretation is more Interview With a Vampire than the sparkly undead.

Tackling two in one with this fruity costume, Klum disguised her then 8-months-pregnant belly in a giant apple suit, with a Garden of Eden–style snake slithering from the top.

Looking catwalk appropriate, Klum donned a full cat suit, feline whiskers, and a collar to look like a picture-perfect kitty.

Because two hands are never enough, Heidi added a handful of extra appendages for her Hindu goddess costume. With a blue face and matching blue bodysuit, you hardly notice the creepy male face masks attached like a belt at her waist, and the dangling severed head hanging off one of her many limbs. Human sacrifices, or …?

She might have been inspired by a classic Edgar Allen Poe poem or a classic Hitchcock flick, but Klum’s costume for her 2009 bash was all feathers.

Another costume that’s barely discernible, with red hair and purple skin, Klum is outfitted as an alien transformer hybrid for her 2010 gathering.

What would Heidi Klum look like without skin? While that’s not an image many of us would want to see, the usually clothed beauty drew inspiration from the human anatomy, and maybe the BODIES exhibit, for last year’s “Visible Woman” getup.

Because of the devastation left by Hurricane Sandy on the East Coast, Klum rightly felt it was appropriate to call off her Halloween party this year. But had she gone through with it, she would have been a gold Cleopatra. Last week, she announced the outfit, posing in a floor-length golden gown, elaborate headdress, and of course—some major cleavage. “Postponing to a haunted Christmas,” she tweeted about her cancelation.
