Ivanka Trump to Dr. Oz: Not My Job to ‘Moderate’ the President
SO STOP ASKING
Asked by Dr. Mehmet Oz in an interview that aired Thursday if she views herself as a “voice of moderation” in her father's administration, as many pundits have characterized her over the past eight months, Ivanka Trump said that her role is to “inform, advise and then ultimately” execute the president's vision. “So I’m not the decision maker,” she said. “I have my views and I share them candidly.” Since voters elected Trump “based on his agenda,” she said, “It’s not my job to undermine that agenda.” Ultimately, she said, “I don’t view it as my obligation to moderate, and I don’t think anyone working for a sitting president should see themselves in that capacity.” In the same interview on Dr. Oz, Ivanka Trump discussed her struggles with postpartum depression, saying, “It was a very challenging, emotional time for me because I felt like I was not living up to my potential as a parent or as an entrepreneur and executive. I had had such easy pregnancies that in some way, the juxtaposition hit me even harder.”
