The city avoided the kind of unrest many feared, but as demonstrators on both sides gathered outside the courthouse, it was clear that tensions are still high.
What the trial ultimately proved beyond a reasonable doubt is that white supremacy is the only law that truly matters, providing grounds for any action taken in its name.
