President Trump on Donald Jr: ‘I Applaud His Transparency’
Trump released statement of support after email disclosure.
During Tuesday's White House press briefing, deputy press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders read a statement from President Donald Trump that said, “My son is a high quality person and I applaud his transparency.” Earlier Tuesday, Donald Trump Jr. released emails from 2016 between himself and an intermediary showing Trump Jr. was seeking compromising information about Hillary Clinton. Sanders directed all questions about the matter to outside counsel. Trump Jr. released the emails after New York Times journalists contacted him with their plans to publish a story about the emails.
