Five Things to Watch at the GOP Convention Thursday
The GOP is bringing out more big guns on the third and final day of the convention. From to Newt Gingrich to Jeb Bush, check out The Daily Beast’s guide to which speeches to watch and which to skip.
Remarks by Newt and Callista Gingrich
If you thought Newt University was fun, the remarks by Mitt Romney’s former primary opponent and wife, Callista, are sure to be a hoot. The Gingriches will take the stage following a video on Ronald Reagan’s legacy and speak on “applying the principles of Ronald Reagan to 2012,” Newt told CNN.

Remarks by Craig Romney
In case you hadn’t heard, the Romneys have five sons. Unfortunately, there’s only time for one of them to speak at the GOP convention. Craig will surely make the same effort as his mom—to convince voters that Mitt Romney is just an average human being. But the question is, will he do it in Spanish? At the same time that Romney’s trying to appear less robotic, he’s also trying to woo Hispanic voters, and we all know Craig loves to show off his Spanish-speaking skills.
Remarks by Jeb Bush
Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush has been a big proponent of Romney’s candidacy and is the only member of the Bush clan to show his face, let alone speak on behalf of Romney at the convention.
Remarks by Marco Rubio
There was a period of time when many election observers were convinced Marco Rubio would be Romney’s choice for vice-presidential nominee. After all, he’s young, handsome, popular, and Latino to boot. So while Rubio didn’t make the cut as vice president, the Romney campaign still hopes Rubio will be to Hispanic voters what it wants Ann Romney to be to women.
Remarks by Mitt Romney
Ah, the grand finale. We pretty much knew Romney would be the GOP’s nominee for president months ago, and it was made official earlier this week, but this is the moment we’ve all been waiting for. Romney, who sat humbly by as Chris Christie roused the audience to their feet on his behalf Tuesday night, will take the stage Thursday night and accept his party’s nomination for president.
