Fringe Factor: Gun Control Leads to Genocide
Gun Control Could Lead to Genocide
“Gun control has never been about guns. It’s about control,” declared Jan Morgan, gun rights activist and head of a group called Armed American Women. At a South Carolina Tea Party convention earlier this month, Morgan promoted the thoroughly debunked theory that gun control allowed Hitler’s rise to power. “In the twentieth century folks, 170 million people have been annihilated by their own governments after being disarmed,” she claimed. “So, don’t let anybody tell you that disarming America is going to make us a safer place.”
Fox Analyst Ready for Military Coup
Fox News analyst and retired Army general Paul Vallely is sick and tired of writing letters to senators and congressmen and seeing no changes. He thinks it’s time for Tea Party activists to get up and protest. In fact, Vallely support a military coup to remove President Obama from office and, if necessary, he’d be willing to lead it. “I had a call this afternoon from Idaho, the gentleman said, ‘If I gave you 250,000 Marines to go to Washington, will you lead them,” Vallely said to a laughing group of Tea Party Patriots during a speech in Surprise, Arizona last month. “I said, ‘Yes, I will, I’ll surround the White House and I’ll surround the Capitol building, but it’s going to take physical presence to do things.”
Obama Foes Live-Troll the State of the Union
President Obama’s State of the Union address Tuesday night elicited some strong reactions from his political foes, who couldn’t wait until the annual speech was finished to storm Twitter with their own two cents. “On floor of house waitin on ‘Kommandant-In-Chef’...the Socialist dictator who’s been feeding US a line or is it ‘A-Lying?’” Texas Rep. Randy Weber tweeted impatiently before Obama took the podium. He continued to live-troll the speech, writing “SOTU=Sorry Our Time’s Up. POTUS=Poor Obama Trashed U.S. We shouldn’t be surprised. He promised to ‘fundamentally change US’ Boy is he?!” among other tweets. Weber was joined online by Rep. Tim Huelskamp who also seems to have had his head in his mobile phone throughout the President’s speech, tweeting his reactions to the SOTU—such as “The new Imperial Presidency”—Obama will do everything “without legislation to advance his radical agenda” in real time. Meanwhile Katie Pavlich, writer at the conservative magazine Townhall, tweeted a picture of the weather report out of Atlanta to discredit the section of Obama’s speech dedicated to climate change. “As it snows in Georgia, Obama wants you to know global warming, I mean climate change, is a FACT.”
Missouri Bill Lets Parents Pull Kids from Biology Class
Missouri Republicans don’t want to eliminate evolution from their public school’s curriculum altogether, they just want parents to have the option to take their kids out of science class when if their teacher decides to muddy their little minds with Darwin’s theory. That’s the objective of House Bill 1472, which the National Center for Science Education’s deputy director has said “would eviscerate the teaching of biology in Missouri.” HB 1472’s authors are responsible for a number of thus far failed bills in the state House that mandate teachers devote “equal time” to teaching intelligent design as they do evolution at all public schools, colleges and junior colleges included.
Erick Erickson Won’t Stop Calling Wendy Davis ‘Abortion Barbie’
Red State editor-in-chief Erick Erickson has been trying for months to make “Abortion Barbie” happen as a nickname for Texas state senator Wendy Davis. He first tested out the sexist sobriquet back in August, when criticizing Davis’s response to a question about claims equating legal abortions to the crimes of convicted killer doctor Kermit Gosnell. But just this week, Fox News host Greta Van Susteren took Erickson to task on her blog, calling him “boorish” and “disrespectful to women” for the way he talks about Davis. “I don’t care how much you disagree or agree with Texas’ Wendy Davis, you have to agree that this guy, Erick Erickson, is a real jerk and is really lousy at being a spokesperson for his views,” she wrote. Erickson lived up to Van Susteren’s assessment when he responded via his own blog Monday, facetiously thanking her for shining a light on his crusade against Davis and that brilliant nickname. “I have helped define Wendy Davis by a moniker that sticks, describes, and makes her the butt of jokes, while drawing out the shrill hysterics of her supporters,” he wrote following a graphic description of an abortion aimed at painting Davis as a sadistic baby killer.
