National Review Online: Hollywood Liberalism Killed Philip Seymour Hoffman
National Review Online's Ben Shapiro penned a brief yet thoroughly judgmental blog post on the death of actor Philip Seymour Hoffman, Monday. Hoffman’s “self-inflicted death,” Shapiro wrote of the actors apparent heroin overdose, “is yet another hallmark of the broken leftist culture that dominates Hollywood, enabling rather than preventing the loss of some of its greatest talents.” Shapiro, who is the author of a book called Primetime Propaganda: The True Hollywood Story of How the Left Took Over Your TV, declared, “the Hollywood demand is more for self-abasement, less spirituality, less principle, less standards...No one knows what sort of demons plagued Seymour Hoffman. But without a sound moral structure around those in Hollywood who have every financial and talent advantage, the path to destruction is far too easy.”
GOP Town Hall Derailed by Calls to Execute Obama
It’s hard to tell what’s more disturbing about this video of an Oklahoma Republican town hall meeting: the woman who interrupts Rep. Jim Bridenstine to suggest that President Obama isn’t really president as far as she’s concerned and “should be executed as an enemy combatant,” or the people who laugh in response. The woman railroads the meeting, ranting about “the Muslims he is shipping into our country,” and lobbing other indecipherable accusations at the president. “This guy is a criminal, nobody’s stopping him,” she says. “And with Congress doing nothing, that legally allows this moron to make decisions!” Bridenstine manages to reclaim the floor, but doesn’t exactly change the subject saying, “Everybody knows the lawlessness of this president.” After the video of the town hall circulated the Internet, Bridenstine issued a statement in response. “A public figure cannot control what people say in open meetings,” his statement read. “I obviously did not condone and do not approve of grossly inappropriate language. It is outrageous that irresponsible parties would attribute another person’s reckless remarks to me.”

Conservative Activist Wants to Unseat GOP Leadership
Brent Bozell has set out to remove every single incumbent Republican from office, announcing this week that his non-profit ForAmerica plans to funnel six-figures into a “Dump The Leadership” campaign. If you’re not familiar with Bozell, he’s a conservative activist and writer, and founder of the Media Research Center, which claims credit for making “‘media bias’ a household term.” A frequent Fox News guest, Bozell has made such noteworthy comments as Obama looks like “a skinny, ghetto crackhead” and that Common’s invitation to the White House for a poetry event is an example of “The Obamas surrounding themselves with...Anti-American, American hating people.” He’s also pointed to Hollywood’s failure to portray homosexuality as “morally wrong,” as proof of “liberal bias.” Anyway, this guy is disappointed in the GOP’s loss of “principles and bearings” and his campaign plans to put out digital ads specifically targeting House Speaker John Boehner, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, and Senate Minority Whip John Cornyn, from now until November.
Mo. Votes to Jail Agents for Enforcing Gun Laws
The Missouri state Senate wants to nullify federal gun laws and prosecute agents who attempt to enforce them. Under a bill that the Senate’s General Laws Committee voted on 5-1 last week, federal agents who enforce the nation’s gun laws in Missouri could be fined up to $1,000 and sentenced to up to a year in prison. Among its other provisions, this bill moves to arm public school teachers and staff and lower the minimum age for a permit to carry a concealed weapon from 21 to 19. This bill, however, is more of a symbolic act of defiance in the face of the government than anything, as states are virtually incapable of prosecuting federal officials for doing their jobs under federal law.
Victoria Jackson is Running for TN County Commission
Victoria Jackson has thrown her hat (er, bow) in the race for a seat on Tennessee's Williamson County commission. You may remember Jackson from her tenure as Saturday Night Live cast member from 1986-92. Or, more recently, from her work as an outspoken Tea Party conservative, writing—and then deleting—an article calling for a “white history month,” and recording the the catchy protest tune, “There’s a Communist Living in the White House.” Jackson will run against the to-be-determined Republican nominee for the county commission seat as an independent because she is “very disappointed with the Republican Party.”
