Ever since his surprise almost-win in the Iowa caucus, Americans have gotten a much better idea of where Rick Santorum stands on hot-button social issues. In the past 48 hours, Santorum was pressed by two groups of students on social issues—one of which booed him for comparing gay marriage to polygamy—became tongue-tied and may or may not have said he didn't want to "make black people's lives better with someone else's money," and, most recently, slammed gay soldiers. When questioned by an audience member in New Hampshire on "don't ask, don't tell,” Santorum said, “People are chosen [to serve in the military] based on who will make us the best fighting force in the world, and I don't think that includes those who are openly homosexual.” Meanwhile, Newt Gingrich insists his declaration that African-Americans need to get off food stamps wasn't racist.
