Two avalanches simultateously hit the Cascade Range in Washington on Saturday, leaving one woman dead and a 60-year-old man missing. The woman was following a group of snowshoers when the avalanche hit Red Mountain and was buried under five feet of snow. She was evacuated by a search-and-rescue team, but died en route. The man had been hiking with two others when the snow pushed them down 1,200 feet at 50mph. The search was suspended after weather conditions became too dangerous.
