How’s this for your disgusting Friday news: As many as one in six cell phones in Britain may be contaminated with trace amounts of fecal matter—which can spread the deadly virus E. coli, a study released Friday concluded. The study, conducted by the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and Queen Mary at the University of London, found that the fecal matter is on cell phones most likely because people don’t properly wash their hands after using the toilet—and the study also found a majority of people lie about their hygiene habits. Researchers said simply washing your hands with soap can prevent a number of illnesses caused by bacteria.
