One man was killed during a shooting at a New Orleans mall late on Christmas Eve. A suspect in the shooting at the Oakwood Center is in police custody. Police say the shooting occurred in the crowded shopping mall at around 4:20 p.m. in the Footlocker store. The victim had just made his purchase when the gunman fired at least three shots from three feet away. No others were injured, but the throngs of crowds doing last-minute shopping turned frantic. Sheriff Newell Normand described it as “bedlam in the mall.” The suspect was caught several blocks from the mall after a police chase.
