A day after the Libyan rebels’ National Transitional Council was recognized as a legitimate government, At least 10 rebel fighters were killed and 172 more wounded while trying to retake the strategic oil town of Brega from Muammar Gaddafi's troops, a medial official told Al Jazeera on Saturday. Gaddafi and the rebels have been fighting for Brega since March and have each had their turn at occupying the key eastern town, but the rebels were beaten back with land mines and shelling during their latest attempt to retake the territory. According to the medical official, rebel forces captured four government soldiers during the melée.
