10 States Sue Trump Over Family Separations

Ten states are filing a lawsuit against the Trump administration over its “zero tolerance” policy that results in the separation of families that cross the southern border without authorization. California Attorney General Xavier Becerra said President Donald Trump’s Wednesday executive order requiring that families be kept together is “empty and meaningless” in part because 2,300 children are still separated from their parents. “We are filing this lawsuit because ripping children from their parents is unlawful, wrong, and heartless,” said Becerra, who argued that the separation practice violates families’ rights to due process.
