11 Dead in Thai Blast

Car bombs set off in the Thai city of Yala killed 11 people and injured 110 others on Saturday. It is suspected that Muslim insurgents carried out the attacks, which were the deadliest in Thailand in years. A first explosion was set off inside a parked pickup truck. A second blast followed about 20 minutes later after a crowd had gathered and was responsible for most of the deaths. More than 5,000 people have been killed in since 2004, when an Islamist insurgency started in Thailand’s southernmost provinces.
