11 More Stranded Whales Found Dead

Eleven more short-finned pilot whales were found dead in the Florida Keys on Sunday, bringing the total number of dead whales from a pod that was stranded in the Everglades last week to 22. The pod of 51 was first spotted on Tuesday, veering too close to shallow waters in a remote section of the Everglades. Though the whales are of the species most commonly involved in mass stranding, veterinary teams will try to determine if disease was a factor in the deaths. The rest of the whales in the pod were last seen alive on December 6, but officials say they do not know their current status
