An 11-year-old boy shot and killed his grandmother Saturday before turning the gun on himself, according to a Sunday report from Arizona’s ABC15. The unnamed child, who lived full-time with his grandparents, had reportedly been asked to clean his room throughout the day. He was “being stubborn about it,” his grandfather later told authorities. Later that night, the adults were watching TV on the couch when the boy reportedly stole his grandfather’s gun and shot 65-year-old Yvonne Woodward in the back of the head. The grandfather quickly ran after the child, but doubled back to take care of his wife. When he returned to the boy, he found that the child had shot himself, too. In a news release from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, authorities said that there had been no prior reason for concern regarding the child’s behavior, and that the investigation was in its “preliminary” stage.
