ABC News reports five Americans were among the 12 people killed Tuesday when a bus carrying foreign tourists from a Royal Caribbean cruise ship flipped over on Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. Nearly two dozen others were injured in the crash en route to the Chacchoben Maya ruins, about 110 miles south of Tulum. ABC News, citing an official close to the investigation, said four Canadians, two Swedes, and one Mexican were among the dead, including a minor of unknown nationality. Royal Caribbean said passengers from its Celebrity Equinox and Serenade of the Seas were on board. Witness Fontes Jacques, of Brazil, told ABC News “the bus somehow went down the side of the road,” adding “then the driver pushed it over and it started flipping over. And then the bus flipped on its side.”
