A fire at a nursing home in Taiwan on Tuesday killed 12 elderly, bedridden patients and injured another 60. The cause of the fire is not yet known. More than 100 patients were housed at the nursing home, and many were on respirators and unable to move on their own. The nursing home’s remote location is also believed to have contributed to the death toll, although firefighters did arrive at the scene within 10 minutes after the fire broke out.
