According to a monitor group, 135 people died this week in Syria despite a truce that took effect last weekend. UN-sponsored peace talks are set to resume late next week. The five-year-long Syrian civil war has claimed more than 250 million lives and spurred a massive exodus and resulting refugee crises in the European Union, Turkey, and Lebanon.
