141 Injured in Kenya University Stampede

WORLD

Students thought there was a terrorist attack.

At least one student was killed and 141 injured on Sunday at a university in Nairobi when students mistook accidental explosions for a terrorist attack. The student who died was a male third year, and had died when jumping from the fifth floor. Other students were injured when they jumped from as high as the sixth floor of their dorms, thinking there was an attack. According to the vice chancellor of the school, an electrical transformer had exploded, which caused panic after the 148 students killed at Garissa University just a few weeks before.
